Niacinamide

Listed functions (EU CosIng): smoothing

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it's one of those ingredients that actually does something noticeable. It strengthens your skin barrier, which means your skin can hold onto moisture better and feel less reactive. It also helps regulate sebum, so if you get oily or deal with enlarged-looking pores, it can make a real difference. You'll also see some improvement in uneven tone over time.

The sweet spot is 2 to 5 percent. Brands often go higher, but there's no real evidence that more niacinamide means better results. It's stable, plays well with most other ingredients, and works for most skin types. You'll need a few weeks to see the full effect.
